York Street

Our journey with York really began years ago as we were drawn to Prince Edward County for its beaches, good food, vineyards, and cool hangouts. We eventually decided to move there and started the search for a desirable property. When we came upon the York Street house, we thought we knew what we wanted to do with it, but we did not. It wasn’t until David shared his vision of York with us that we understood the full potential of the place.

Since this was a 150 year old house, we needed an experienced set of eyes to recognize the potential pitfalls and reveal the latent possibilities of the space. David’s artistic design insights, creativity, work ethic, penchant for detail, and  “hands-on“ understanding of construction and engineering possibilities was a God-sent.

I still treasure the sketches David did on the spot during his numerous visits to the house as these spontaneous drawings remind me of the evolution of the project and of the love, creativity, and dedication that went into it.

It was truly a marvelous experience to see how David approached the work applying intuition and artistic inspiration without losing sight of budgets and practical construction requirements. He left no detail to chance and displayed his impressive managerial skills scheduling needed tasks, supervising trades, and organizing the purchase and delivery of needed materials with remarkable efficiency.

His dedication, skills and passion are imprinted in the end result, which is a one of a kind, breathtaking home that defies the dominant McMansion mentality, celebrating the history, uniqueness and radical potential of the space.

Warm Regards,
